Elle kind of laughed and took the girl's hand. "Formal handshake. Alright! I'm Elle."

"So, uhm, why exactly do you hate Ares' kids? Does everyone have a certain god we're supposed to hate?" Auburn asked, thouroughly confused by what happened earlier.

"No," Dylan explained. "The Ares kids are just really mean and rude and hateful. Everyone dislikes them. Ash, the kid who was just here. Yeah, he's an Ares kid. Don't mess with them. They will hurt you."

"Oh, So everyone who isn't an Ares kid is cool?" Auburn hesitated before adding, "What if you piss off someone, will everyone who is a descendant from that god hate me too? or is that just an Ares thing too?"

"Well, the Athena kids are pretty close," Dylan explained. "We tend to look out for each other. And we are the children of the goddess of wisdom, courage, justice, and war strategy. So we're probably not the best people to get on the bad side of. But honestly, no one will bite as much as the Ares kids. Have you been claimed?"

"... Claimed?" Auburn asked, puzzled. "I... don't know..."
((No Siriusly, I've never read Percy Jackson. If I get a Kindle for Christmas, I will, its just that my bookshelf is buckling under the weight of my books already... so no idea what "claimed" is.))

((Yeah, well your character is new to this world -- so she shouldn't know what claimed means anyway.))
"Claimed. Oh. Um. Do you know who your god parent is? Have they claimed you? Which of your parents is human? Your mom or your dad?" Dylan bombarded Auburn with questions.

"Uhm, Hephaestus is my father? My mother is human? I don't know if I've been... Claimed... yet. Would I know if I was claimed?" Auburn asked, slightly panicking at the amount of questions being hurled at her.

"If you know who your god father is you must have been claimed. Did you see Hephaestus a lot as a kid? Did he visit you? For most kids their parents completely ignore them. When you've been claimed as the son -- or in your case -- daughter of a god, a shiny magically icon appears above your head. And that is often the only acknowledgment demi-gods -- that's what we're called -- receive from their parents," explained Dylan.

"I've only ever seen him twice. Once at a tennis match and when he told me about him being my dad..." Auburn said confusedly.
