Gilderoy found his seat amongst his fellow Slytherins. He gingerly reached out, and found food items which would not stain his perfectly white teeth.
Earlier that morning, a spider freaked out a group of girls. Gilderoy, being too scared to deal with the problem himself, asked a passing Ravenclaw to kill the bug. Now, he found himself telling a heroic story to his Slytherin friends, about how he had bravely rescued a group of poor, innocent, defenseless girls from a ravenous acromantula.

Severus sat not to far from Gilderoy completely uninterested and a little repulsed by the mere presance of Gilderoy.

James laughed, "Where did you hear that from? Anything Gilderoy says about himself is a load of rubbish. There's no way he could save anybody from anything. He can't tell the handle of a wand from the tip. I could take him on in a duel anytime any day."

Lily turned to Amber in disbelief. "There is nothing attractive about arrogance!" she said, even more loudly, earning a few stares from people in the Hall. She let out an exasperated noise and walked angrily by the Slytherin table, only to motion to Severus to follow her, and left, leaving for the lake.

James leaned over to Sirius, "Remus isn't the only one who's a total pain in the butt that time of the month, if you know what I mean. What we've got here is a major case of PMS. But I've got just the thing: we're going to sneak out of the castle to Hogsmeade and buy her a nice big box of chocolate."

Lily sat down by the lake and held her knees to her chest. She was sick of Potter's arrogance and mostly sick of the way she didn't always hate him. It was like he was two people. He could be the most arogant, rude, and most infuriating boy she'd ever met and couldn't stop picking on people who were "lower" than him, but other times he could be decent. Almost a nice person. He wasn't as stupid as she had thought, that's for sure. She sighed and waited for Severus.
