Lily started twirling her dark red hair around her fingers as she examined the bowtruckles. She knew they were nasty little creatures and wouldn't be the most fun to have to deal with if they had to actually come into contact with them because of their sharp claws.

(sorry. rough day yesterday. :/)
sirius seemed quite interested in the bowtruckles.
Severus was sitting on the other side of Lily but was laying low not wanting to get introuble at the moment. But just knowing that James and sirius were in the same room was enought to make him upset.

"Excellent!" Cheered Kettleburn, "And why is camouflage important?"
Peter raised his hand timidly, "Does it help them hide from predators?"
Kettleburn smiled, "I knew I was dealing with a good group of kids! Gryffindor, you are on fire today! Another five points for you and Ashley's amazing knowledge of camouflage. The Bowtruckle are fairly low on the food chain, and thus have to hide from larger animals -- or apothecaries, who might want to prey on them. However, Bowtruckles aren't on the bottom of the food chain. Who has a guess to what they eat?"
Peter raised his hand again, "Sticks and leaves and stuff?"
Professor Kettleburn shook his head, "Not quite. They eat other animals, they are carnivorous. But very small animals. Any guess to what that might be?"

"Wood lice" piped up Ashley. "That's what they mainly eat, but I think they also eat spiders."

"Ooh! Hoo! Hoo!" laughed Kettleburn. "You guys are so smart. Wood lice is exactly right! Although, they wouldn't say no to a few fairy eggs! Today, we're going to be having a hands on lesson with these creatures. If you treat them with respect and give them a gift of their favourite food they are perfectly friendly. However, if you try to steal their wood or harm the tree they live in, they will gauge your eyes out and rip your face off."
Professor Kettleburn turned around and walked towards the cage. He pulled the latch and unlocked the cage. Gesturing to a trough of squirming grey bugs, he continued speaking, "You will each receive and carefully examine a Bowtruckle in today's class. I want a complete, and fully labeled, anatomically correct sketch of one of these creatures. You may use these wood lice to keep the Bowtruckles from ripping your face off." He nodded, and the Bowtruckles began wandering out of the cage. "Everyone grab a Bowtruckle and get out your sketch pads."

"Yus!" Peter exclaimed. He then ripped out his sketch pad and flipped it open to the next blank page; he was using the same book as last year, so there were already some sketches in it.
James smoothly got up, and walked towards Lily. As he walked he leaned back, bobbed his head, and pumped his arms back and forth. "Hey Lils. So, wanna be my partner?"

At James' words, Ashley felt a jealousy flare up inside her. She suppressed it, and then began looking for a partner.

Lily looked to Ashley, who she had originally been planning on partnering up with, then to Severus, who she usually did partner up with. "Er..." she said, now looking at James. "Why not?" she sighed.

"Awesome!" James exclaimed. He picked up a Bowtruckle and handed it to Lily, before grabbing one for himself. Then, he took his Bowtruckle over to the trough and gave it some wood lice.

Severus was hurt by lily choseing to be James's partner. He turned to Ashley. "yeah. sure."
he said.
Sirius wandered around looking for a partner.

Evangeline had been dozing off during class and when she finally came too, she had gone to look for a partner as well but was unhappy to find out that Sirius was the only one left.
